Japanese Terminology

Pronunciation:

Vowel sounds
"a" is pronounced like the "a" in father
"e" is pronounced like the "e" in send
"i" is pronounced like the "i" in elite
"o" is pronounced like the "o" in cold
"u" is pronounced like the "oo" in food
"ei" is pronounced like the "a" in fate

Consonants
"c" is pronounced like the "c" in cat
"g" is pronounced like the "g" in garden

Many consonants have a double or blended sound to accommodate Japanese spoken sounds. This is most noticeable in "r/l", "t/d", and "g/k" sounds.
